Meet the Cows!

Miss Charlotte’s story began with a difficult start. She was born via emergency C-section after her mother was slaughtered for meat, leaving her in need of immediate care. At just two weeks old, Charlotte arrived at Wildwood, where she was welcomed into a safe and loving home and raised alongside her goat friends. As she grew, Charlotte gained confidence and eventually graduated to her “big girl” pasture, where she now spends her days with her soul sister, Lola. She has a sweet and playful personality, and absolutely enjoys a good “rakey” session or using volunteers as her personal scratching post.

Blitzen came to Wildwood alongside Ferdinand and the late Valentino after being rescued from a local organic dairy farm on the very day he was born. Like so many animals born into the dairy industry, Blitzen was viewed as a byproduct rather than an individual with a life of his own. At Wildwood, he was given the chance to grow, thrive, and simply be a cow alongside his brothers. Blitzen is gentle and a bit shy, taking his time to trust new people. But when treats are involved, his sweet personality starts to shine through. With a little patience, he’ll happily come over for snacks, enjoy a good rakey session, or lean in for scratches behind his horns.

Ferdinand, affectionately known as Ferd, came to Wildwood alongside his friends Blitzen and the late Valentino after being rescued from a local organic dairy farm the day he was born. Ferd is always first in line when treats are being handed out and has the volunteers well-trained to make sure he gets his favorites before they leave the sanctuary for the day. But treats aren’t the only thing Ferd loves; he absolutely thrives on attention. Start a rakey session, and you may have accidentally signed yourself up for a very long appointment! Ferd has a way of keeping volunteers around for extra scratches, especially when they find the perfect spot behind his magnificent horns.

Tilly was living on a dairy farm in Tillamook, OR, when she was seized by authorities along with Spanky, as a result of an animal cruelty investigation. She was taken in by another sanctuary for care and rehabilitation before coming to Wildwood. Tilly is the matriarch of the herd, and all the boys know it. She is quite shy, but will get close when there are treats, as long as they aren't bananas!

Lola came to Wildwood after being rescued from an animal hoarding situation, where she was found severely emaciated and struggling to survive. Lola spent several weeks receiving lifesaving care at OSU Large Animal Veterinary Hospital, where she was treated for malnutrition and parasites before beginning her journey toward recovery. Today, Lola is living the life she always deserved alongside her soul sister, Charlotte. Lola also has no problem making her needs known. She will happily call out to let everyone know when breakfast is late and is always the first to investigate when fresh hay arrives. 

Spanky came to Wildwood after being rescued from a dairy farm in Tillamook, Oregon, where he was seized by authorities alongside Tilly as part of an animal cruelty investigation. After his rescue, Spanky was cared for and rehabilitated at another sanctuary before making his way to Wildwood, where he could continue his journey in a safe and loving home. These days, Spanky is enjoying all the comforts of sanctuary life has to offer. He loves playing with his giant soccer ball and riling up his brothers during playtime, but nothing compares to his love for pumpkin.
